New to Romulus? Follow these steps to activate your AI phone system and start receiving calls in minutes.

Welcome to Romulus. You're in the right place to get started. This guide walks you through the first steps to activate your AI phone system and start making and receiving calls with your team — no technical jargon, one step at a time.

Step 1 — Activate your phone number

To start receiving calls you need at least one active phone number on Romulus. You have two options:

  • Get a new phone number — available immediately, ready in minutes.

  • Transfer your existing number to Romulus — keep the number your customers already know.

Step 2 — Download the Romulus apps

To make and receive calls you need the Romulus app installed on your PC or smartphone. The app is available for Windows, Mac, iOS and Android.

Step 3 — Add your team members

If you work with a team, add your colleagues to the phone system so they can receive calls on their own devices. You can assign roles and manage permissions for each user.

Step 4 — Set up inbound calls

This is the heart of the phone system: decide what happens when someone calls your number. You can choose from different scenarios based on your needs:

  • Calls ring directly on your phone

  • A voice menu guides the customer to the right department

  • Outside business hours, calls go to voicemail

  • Calls are distributed among team members

Step 5 — Customize and explore

Once you're up and running, you can personalize your phone system further and discover more Romulus features:

Does the phone system work immediately after signing up?

Not yet. To receive calls you need at least one active phone number and a configured inbound rule. Follow steps 1 and 4 of this guide to get started.

Can I use Romulus on my smartphone?

Yes. Download the Romulus app on iOS or Android and log in with your credentials. See Download and Install the Romulus Apps for details.
