How to Make and Receive Calls with Romulus

Learn how to make and receive calls using the Romulus app on desktop and mobile, and what you can do during a call.

With Romulus you can make and receive calls directly from the app on your computer or smartphone. This guide explains how to place a call, how incoming calls work, and what actions are available during a conversation.

Before You Start

Make sure you have:

  • The Romulus app installed on your device (desktop or mobile)

  • At least one active phone number on your account

  • A working microphone with audio permissions granted to the app

  • A stable internet connection (Wi-Fi or mobile data)

Making an Outgoing Call

You can place a call in two ways from the Romulus app:

Option 1 — Dial pad

  1. Open the dial pad in the app.

  2. Type the number you want to call.

  3. Press the green button to start the call.

Option 2 — Contact search

  1. Search for a contact by name in your address book.

  2. Tap or click the call button next to their name to start the call directly.

Receiving an Incoming Call

When a call comes in, the app displays a notification showing the caller's number or name (if they are saved in your contacts). Call notifications arrive even when the app is running in the background or the device is in standby.

  • Tap the green button to answer

  • Tap the red button to decline — the caller will be redirected to voicemail or the flow configured for your number

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be connected to the internet to make calls?

Yes. The Romulus app requires a stable internet connection — either Wi-Fi or mobile data — to make and receive calls.

What happens if I decline a call?

The caller is redirected to voicemail or to the call flow configured for your phone number.

Will I receive calls if the app is closed?

On mobile, incoming calls are delivered as standard phone notifications even when the app is in the background. On desktop, the app needs to be running to receive calls.

Can I transfer a call to a colleague?

Yes. During a call, use the Transfer option. You can choose between an announced transfer (you introduce the caller first) or a blind transfer (immediate, no prior notice).

I'm having audio issues during calls — what should I do?

Check that your microphone is working and that audio permissions are enabled for the Romulus app on your device. For more detailed troubleshooting, refer to the dedicated support article.
