To use Romulus for calls, each device needs at least 1 Megabit per second (Mbps) of upload speed β the speed used when your device sends data to the internet, not when it receives it.
How much bandwidth your team needs
Romulus uses the internet to transmit voice during calls. The more people using Romulus at the same time, the more speed is required. Here are some practical examples:
People on calls | Upload speed needed |
1 person | 1 Mbps |
5 people | 5 Mbps |
10 people | 10 Mbps |
π‘ If you don't know your connection speed, you can check it for free at fast.com or speedtest.net. Look for the upload value.
Which type of connection to use
Fibre optic β excellent, stable, the recommended choice
ADSL β acceptable, as long as the upload speed is sufficient
WiFi β works well, but use a wired connection if possible for better stability
Mobile data 4G/5G β works well when you are on the go
Mobile data 3G β not recommended, audio quality may be poor
Is your call audio poor?
A slow or unstable connection is the most common cause of choppy audio, echo, or delays during calls. See Poor Call Audio Quality β What to Do for a full troubleshooting guide.
