How to Create and Manage API Keys

Generate an API key to connect Make.com, Zapier, or custom integrations to your Romulus account.

Quick Start — Create an API Key in 2 Minutes

⚠️ Need to connect Make.com or Zapier?

  1. Integrations → API Keys → click Create

  2. Enter a label (e.g. "Make Integration")

  3. Click CreateCOPY THE KEY IMMEDIATELY

  4. Paste the key into Make.com or Zapier when prompted

The key is only shown once. Copy it before closing the modal.

What Are API Keys For?

API keys give external tools programmatic access to your Romulus account. You need one to connect:

  • Make.com — to trigger Romulus actions inside your scenarios

  • Zapier — to use Romulus as an app in your Zaps

  • Custom integrations — any developer-built connection to the Romulus API

⚠️ Treat your API key like a password. Do not share it publicly or include it in code that others can see.

Creating an API Key

  1. From the side menu, click Integrations.

  2. In the sidebar, click API Keys.

  3. Click the Create button.

  4. Read the Important Notice — the key is only shown once.

  5. Enter a Label for the key (e.g. "Make Integration", "Zapier Production").

  6. Click Create.

  7. The key is displayed in full. Copy it now and store it securely (e.g. in a password manager).

⚠️ CRITICAL: The full API key is only shown once — immediately after creation. If you close the modal without copying it, you cannot retrieve it. You will need to delete it and create a new one.

Using the Key With Make.com

  1. Log into your Make.com account.

  2. Go to Connections in the main dashboard.

  3. Click Add a New Connection.

  4. Search for and select Romulus.

  5. Paste your Romulus API key into the field.

  6. Click Authenticate.

Once connected, you can use the Robocall Result webhook trigger and Romulus actions: Create Robocall Task and Send WhatsApp Template Message.

Using the Key With Zapier

  1. Log into your Zapier account.

  2. Go to My Apps.

  3. Click Add a new connection.

  4. Search for and select Romulus.

  5. Paste your Romulus API key.

  6. Click Yes, Continue.

Managing API Keys

All keys appear in the API Keys table showing: Name, masked Key value, Status, Created date, Last Used date. Click Delete to permanently revoke a key — any integration using it will stop working immediately.

Common Issues

I forgot to copy my key

There is no way to retrieve a key after closing the modal. Delete the key from the API Keys table and create a new one.

My Make/Zapier connection is failing after using the key

The key may have been deleted. Check the API Keys table to confirm the key still shows as Active. If deleted, create a new one.
